Surrey Clock Repairs Dial & Case
Over the past 16 years, we have restored literally hundreds of dials - both painted and brass - and hundreds of very sad clock cases. Typically, of course, we never thought to preserve any ‘Before’ and ‘After’ photographs to impress you with.

However, starting from now, every dial and case will be photographed and soon, this website will be able to show you some examples of the fine, skilled work that our restorers can turn out.

Many of our customers have been concerned that their dials would be ‘over-restored’ and come back, looking like new.

Because our golden rule is to do the minimum necessary to bring back the dial to its original glory, we have never had one single complaint.

As a rough guide, a thorough clean and restoration of faded names, numerals, lines and flaked paint should cost in the region of £175.

A really distressed dial, which is beyond touching-up, can be photographed and then totally re-painted as per original, would cost in the region of £375.

Brass dials on good quality clocks have engraved numerals, filled with black wax. This is done so that they can be re-silvered every so often as they become discoloured or scratched. This process enhances the value of the clock considerably and will cost around £75 for a longcase, and around £50 for a smaller mantel or bracket clock.
